Primary Line VoIP Partner (PLP) Program

Program Description

Converged IP access networks consisting of voice, video and data services are currently being implemented by telecommunications service providers of all types and sizes on a wide scale basis and when implemented properly have proven to deliver numerous administrative, operational and cost savings benefits. The stage is set for a mass deployment of this technology but one issue still remains. Early entrants using VoIP to provide primary line voice service have fallen short on the delivery of crucial lifeline dial tone as well as E 911 call routing and proper call handling. In fact, the issue has been so difficult to overcome that many telcos have limited their use of VoIP technology to a voice backhaul replacement only, concealing most of the VoIP benefits from the subscriber. This "Achilles heel" limits VoIP to a secondary line or teen line service only and creates the need for dual networks (VoIP and traditional voice) instead of a truly converged system.

Pannaway Networks, a pioneer in telco-grade converged IP Ethernet access networks has responded to this challenge by developing Primary Line VoIP technology which it has embedded in its IP access platforms. In addition, Pannaway is implementing the industry's first Primary Line VoIP Partner Program. This multi-vendor interoperability and compatibility certification program promotes the implementation of telco-grade VoIP networks that are fully capable to replace legacy TDM and analog voice infrastructures with a converged network approach. Certified partners of this program provide telecom service providers with the assurance that their equipment will operate effectively under production conditions while meeting today's stringent regulatory requirements.

Based on patent-pending technology, Pannaway's Primary Line VoIP system provides automatic failover to an always-available remotely powered backup phone line which runs transparently to the subscriber over the existing POTS/ADSL line. In addition, the system seamlessly integrates with the operator's existing E 911 service.
