Pannaway Increases Value of its MAGNM-20 with 2.5 GPON and Non-Blocking Fabric
Telcos Can Now Leverage High-Density Copper, Active Ethernet and 2.5 GPON, Using the Same, Fully-Managed Carrier-Grade Ethernet/IP Platform
Portsmouth, NH
"The Service Convergence Network architecture allows us to add upgrades to the core network we've built with Pannaway over the last two years, as we prepare to add more than 200 Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) subscribers," said Bill Fogg, network planner for Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom, located in Waitsfield, Vermont. "And, as we add area schools to our Pannaway solution, the promise of zero downtime is very important."
The ability for telcos to deliver high density 2.5 GPON, in conjunction with active Ethernet and copper out of the same manageable MSAP, provides a new level of flexibility. Pannaway's award-winning MAGNM-20 is the industry's most dense, carrier-class, non-blocking GPON platform based on Ethernet. And, it can be seamlessly upgraded to support new access technologies without any disruption to existing network operation.
Adding muscle to flexibility, Pannaway is also announcing the availability of a new 10 GbE transport fabric for the MAGNM-20. This new, high performance fabric is the next iteration of its industry-unique, separated access/transport fabric and will enable telcos to increase the performance of their MAGNM-20 platform — at will — to support emerging high bandwidth applications for decades to come. The new 10 GbE transport fabric can also be deployed without causing disruption to a telco's operational network.
MAGNM-20 2.5 GPON Highlights:
- New MAGNM-20 2.5 GPON OLT blade provides four, 2.5/1.2 OLT ports resulting in a capacity to service that exceeds 2300 end points per chassis
- Can be upgraded without network disruption
- Small, form factor pluggable optical transceivers; Class B+ GPON bi-directional optical transceivers
- Managed seamlessly via Pannaway's award winning Broadband Access Manager (BAM)
MAGNM-20 10GbE Fabric Highlights:
- Increases speed of transport ring to 10Gbps
- The increase in throughput means the network is never starved on bandwidth and can support popular subscriber functions like streaming Internet video and IPTV
- Can be upgraded without network disruption
The new transport fabric and GPON blades will enter customer beta trials in Q2.
"Industry experts have validated that Ethernet is the core technology that will enable telco service providers to stay competitive for the long haul," said Ed Buchner, vice president of corporate marketing and partner programs at Pannaway. "Pannaway's latest SCN enhancements provide customers with the tremendous value that comes from the most flexible Multi-Service Access Platform that is all Ethernet, truly Carrier Class and architecturally able to scale for years to come."
