Pannaway Technologies Closes Record Breaking First Half of 2006 Underscored by Strong ILEC/CLEC Growth and Increased IP TV Service Deployments
Portsmouth, NH
During the first half of 2006, a mix of approximately 20 North American Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILEC) and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) selected the company's highly advanced IP (Internet Protocol) and Ethernet-based Service Convergence Network (SCN™) access platform for the delivery of new ultra-broadband Triple Play services to their rural subscribers. Additionally, many of Pannaway's existing telco customers entered into subsequent phases of broadband deployment driven primarily by new IP TV services, generating additional revenue for the company. A sampling of new Pannaway customers includes: Idaho-based Filer Mutual Telephone Company; Iowa-based N. English Cooperative Telephone Company; Iowa-based IAMO Telephone Company; Montana-based 3 Rivers Communications; N. Dakota-based Polar Communications; New York-based Warwick Valley Telephone Company (WVTC) and Texas-based Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (VTCI).
"We've been migrating our legacy TDM infrastructure to IP because it's a simpler and much more scalable platform that will enable us to deliver new high-bandwidth communications and entertainment services as they emerge", said John Bradford, business development manager at VTCI. "We looked at all of the major IP access providers and selected Pannaway based on the high-quality and performance of their video access products and the innovation and completeness of their voice solution."
Pannaway's multi-award winning SCN platform currently delivers the most robust IP voice offering available from any access provider. Protocols supported include MGCP-3435 (Media Gateway Control Protocol), MGCP-NCS and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which enables the company's patent-pending Primary Line VoIPSM and embedded Emergency Stand Alone (ESA) technologies. Using SCN, telcos can deliver VoIP over the protocol of their choice in concert with a variety of other broadband services, all in one easy-to-deploy and tightly integrated IP and Ethernet-based solution.
Jeff Heynen, directing analyst broadband & IPTV with Infonetics Research who follows Pannaway closely had this to say. "Every telco is looking for the simplest and most scaleable technology that allows them to transform their legacy circuit-based networks to high performance packet-based networks capable of supporting bundled voice, data, and video services. Pannaway's SCN solution combines in a single platform all of the broadband capabilities an operator needs to quickly roll out these high-margin services and stay ahead of their competition."
With IPTV deployments clearly on the rise, the need for service providers to optimize network bandwidth utilization has never been greater. To address this challenge, Pannaway announced the X-CABTM, a line powered enclosure that supports up to 96 port-selectable ADSL2+/POTS/IPTV or POTS only (VoIP-enabled) combo subscribers. X-CAB's flexible mounting options and line powered capability simplifies the process and cost associated with shortening loop lengths. This innovative design significantly increases bandwidth capacity for improved performance of bandwidth intensive broadband information, communication and entertainment services.
"We've seen a significant increase in the number of IPTV deployments during the first half of 2006", said Kevin Brown, vice president of marketing for Pannaway. "We expect this momentum to continue through the next five years and are working diligently to deliver the most advanced access platform available while garnering interoperability relationships with IPTV leaders like Auroras, Broadstream Communications and NRTC."
Beyond new cutting-edge product announcements and customer recognition, in the first half of 2006, Pannaway and its products were honored by the telecommunications industry with several prestigious awards including:
- Broadband Properties Magazine's Top 100 Vendors list for 2006
- IT Week Magazine's Top 100 Vendors list for 2006
- 2006 GLOBALCOMM(™) Award of Excellence
- NTCA EXPO '06, HOT Technologies Award
- Communications Solutions Magazine's Product-of-the-Year
