Pannaway Technologies Wins
"Best in NGN Award"

Pannaway's Powerful IP DSLAM Garners Prestigious Award as Industry's First Broadband Access Switch to Deliver Lifeline POTS with Advanced Calling Features

Portsmouth, NH - November 5, 2004 - Pannaway Technologies, Inc., designers and developers of IP-based, converged broadband platforms for telecommunications companies, announced today that its Broadband Access Switch (BASTM), an ADSL2+ aggregator, digital loop carrier (DLC), and internetworking switch, was selected by conference attendees as the "Best in NGN Award" winner at the 18th annual Next Generation Networks¨ Conference, the premier industry forum for advanced, highspeed networks. Pannaway beat out innovative product offerings from seven other award finalists including Antara, Chantry Networks and Motorola.

"The Best of NGN Award was designed to recognize new and exceptionally compelling networking products and services," said Fred Knight, BCR VP and GM. "We are proud to present this award to Pannaway for its Broadband Access Switch, which was judged by NGN 2004 attendees to be the most innovative networking product at this year's event."

The BAS is a key component of Pannaway's Service Convergence Network (SCNTM), a managed end-to-end IP solution that enables Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILEC) to aggressively compete with offerings from cable companies and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) through the delivery of tiered "Triple Play" services. ILECs are now able to provide user control features, full Lifeline POTS support and remote network management capabilities without requiring "forklift" upgrades to their existing networks or cable plants.

Pannaway's BAS is recognized as the industry's most cost-effective DSLAM, DLC and ATM-to-IP gateway replacement. The Pannaway BAS delivers guaranteed voice, video, and data services simultaneously over a single broadband connection, enabling ILECs to competitively offer new revenue generating services to subscribers. The BAS effectively doubles the bandwidth (28Mbps) and eclipses the functionality of traditional access solutions while maintaining its industry-unique status for the delivery of Lifeline POTS with advanced calling features.

Key features of the Pannaway BAS include:

"We are extremely honored to be recognized by our peers as the 'Best in NGN Award' winner," said Michael Skubisz, chief technical officer for Pannaway. "Our goal has always been to deliver a true end-to-end IP-based service transport that enables ILECs to offer profitable world-class telephony features, high-speed Internet access, and premium video—all over a single broadband connection. This award recognizes our company's achievement in delivering on the benefits of converged IP networking."

The award competition was open to all NGN 2004 exhibitors who officially launched a new product or service since November 2003. For additional information about the winner and the Best in NGN Award, see http://www.bcr.com/ngn/.
